Yasir
- Sexy, Smart and Stunning |
||||||||
|
||||||||
| His name is Yasir, and when I
look at him, sometimes I see a touch of Elvis, a bit of Johnny Depp, a
touch of George Clooney. Either way, this six foot two 24 year old,
with glossy, dark hair, velvety eyebrows, luminous eyes, beautiful
honey-colored skin and a pouty-sexy mouth, is star quality material.
Yasir, whose full name is Mohammad Yasir Khan Memonwas, was born and raised in Pakistan. He lives and works in the USA, and is a young man of extraordinary range. He works as a model in commercials, as well as in print advertising and on the runway, and his voice is so rich and deep that he is frequently hired to record voice-overs for commercials. He constantly turns work down for lack of time, and he is not shy about demanding a "handsome," in his words, fee. At the same time, Yasir is taking his MBA in Business Administration.
I have exchanged numerous emails with Yasir, and spoken with him on the phone. He is intelligent, thoughtful, open, witty, and thoroughly engaging. I asked him to describe the Pakistani region where he was born. "I was born not far from Karachi, the place where I now live. Karachi is probably one of the most populated cities in the world. My home town is called Hala, about 250 kilometers from Karachi. I go there often. It is a very small village, and the population is about 100,000 people. 90% of the people own land there, and their source of income is agriculture." "Growing up, I was always considered a problem child, because I was very naughty. I put my bed cover on fire once while playing with a lighter. I was 4 at the time. I managed to escape unhurt, because after conducting this act I hid in the store room. I knew I would be held accountable for what I did."
Yasir has spent some time in England, and when I asked him to list his favorite pop groups, I was surprised to learn they were Wham, Don Henley and Billy Joel. I asked Yasir to describe his culture. "My religion is Islam, and we are called Muslims. And I thank God that I was born in a Muslim's house." "Well, what should I say about my culture? We belong to a male chauvinist society, and that's what our culture is, unfortunately. The people of this country have very, very strong family values, unlike some other nations, and all the family members stick to each other, and don't usually split, even if they get old."
"The province that I belong to is highly conservative (apart from Karachi, which is no less progressive than New York itself). But if you talk about rural and remote areas of the province of Sindh, women do not usually get out of their houses without covering their faces, and heads, of course, and they are strictly forbidden to talk to men outside their immediate family, sometimes even to their cousins." Yasir has two brothers and two sisters, and is single. He loves windsurfing, and on top of everything else, he used to be a professional horse rider and polo player. That is, until he was shooting a commercial two years ago, and had an accident.
"That horse was not trained, and I fell from it. I totally bruised myself, and we had to cancel the shoot for a week. My father asked me not to ride ever again in my life, so I quit riding, though it is very difficult to quit this thing, because riding is an addiction. But I really tried hard. I rode for at least three years, and when I finally started getting good in polo, I had to quit." Yasir's father is now retired, but previously he was Chairman and President of the Allied Bank of Pakistan.
Yasir has obviously learned well from his father's teaching. His ambition, both as a model and as a businessman, is obvious. And this young man seems to have everything going for him.
